Mexico and Baseball | Guadalajara + Zapopan, Jalisco

Here we go again…I am always so hopeful for this blog and wish for it to be so much more than just a place where I dump my vacation pictures for our family to see—although it’s been so great for that!

I have so many plans for the new year, can you believe it’s already the end of October?! Well, neither can I. There are so many things I want to do, places that I want to visit, and it’s so exciting to be able to finally start planning for some of these things.  And with new adventures on the horizon, I need to somewhat catch up on some of the trips that I have yet to share from 2017 (while it’s still 2017!).

If you follow me on IG, you know our little family loves baseball. We have been wanting to go to Spring Training for some time and even had said we would go this year. Well, things don’t always work out as planned and sometimes it is most definitely for the better, at least in this case it was. Javier had seen that the World Baseball Classic would be in Mexico this year and once we started to look into the cost for flights and places on Airbnb, we couldn’t believe how inexpensive it was. Looking back now I am sure we would have spent more in Arizona than we did in Mexico especially since all our Big Gulp-sized micheladas were only $3!

This was only my second time in Mexico, and I have fallen in love all over again. The colors, the plants, and the food, oh the food (I wish I would have taken more photos of all the food).

**All photos were taken with my phone and edited with A Color Story. We were told it wasn't a good idea to have our big camera out during the time we went. I definitely need to invest in a small point and shoot for next time.

There were so many people selling food from carts.

Our Airbnb jungalow was AMAZING! This fellow plant lover had no idea what a treat she was in for, no clue guys! We stayed at a home that was actually on nursery, I mean what are the chance right?! There were so many plants, flowers, and trees. I would sit outside and cross stitch every day. It was pretty amazing.

We went to a baseball game every night. We'd walk the few blocks from where we were staying, sipping on whatever we were drinking that night.

So I didn't get as lucky as Javier with this. He actually won a Jersey for hitting 21 pitches, while I on the other hand didn't see any of the balls coming. I would like to think that Aroldis Chapman was pitching and that's why it just didn't happen but then again with that stance, I just don't know.

Food

BEST. BIRRIA. EVER. So, so good!

This place was one of the places we first ate breakfast at, so tasty. It was actually really dark in here so that might be why I don't have more photos.

This spot was also super tasty but this dish below was soooo spicy, it was kinda funny that I asked the waitress if it was and she said not at all. Her level of spice is definitely on a whole other level.

It rained one day and so we had pizza. It tasted so different from any pizza I have ever had. Not bad different, but not like pizza different. Still yummy though.

We walked almost everywhere, except for a few Uber rides, which were really easy to use here in Mexico.

Flea Market

We went to a flea market one day and bought a few things, not pictured. I will have to photograph and share on another post since I also have a funny story to share about those flea market finds.

Zapopan, Jalisco

More photos of our Airbnb.

These chickens followed us everywhere!

I wanted a photo of the Mexico sign but wasn't quick enough.

Till next time Mexico.
